What I'm doing now: September 30, 2024
These days, I am exploring the intersection of space, sound, and movement in my work, using what I call canvas-based composition. This approach transforms the built environment, like architecture, into a visual and auditory experience. Picture a building’s surfaces and features as a kind of graphic score—a virtual canvas that’s brought to life using the mubone, an orientation sensor that tracks the performer’s movements.
I’m also in the middle of a dream collaboration with the pioneering interdisciplinary artist Meredith Monk, known for her groundbreaking site-specific work. I’m performing on trombone in her piece Indra’s Net at the Park Avenue Armory in New York City, running until October 6, 2024.
